Stingrays demolish Cairns 8 March 2010 The Sunshine Coast Stingrays are on track to win the Queensland Country Championships after another demolition of their opposition last weekend. The Stingrays tore apart Cairns in wet and foggy conditions in Toowoomba 85-3. The unbeaten run through the tournament sees the Stingrays running high on confidence with bottom ranked Central Queensland and arch nemesis Gold Coast left to play. If the Stingrays can continue their winning form against Central Queensland they will be in the box seat to take out the Country Championships for the first time since 2004. This year there is no final for the Country Championship so it goes to the highest ranked team over the round-robin series. With the Stingrays amazing for and against they are looking very comfortable coming into the final two games. The real threat to the Sunshine Coast side is the old enemy, the Gold Coast. The two go head-to-head on March 27 in a match that will no doubt decide the Country Champions for 2010 as well as kick off the Premier Rugby season. |
