Tamara Sheppard is the New Operations Manager 17 November 2009 Sunshine Coast Rugby Union Ltd is pleased to announce that Tamara Sheppard has been appointed as the new Operations Manager.
Tamara enters the challenge as Operations Manager of Sunshine Coast Rugby Union with a wealth of knowledge from previous sports and rugby roles as well as her extensive tertiary qualifications.
Tamara is a qualified Health and Physical Education Teacher who taught in Mackay over 4 years. She joined the Australian Sports Commission as part of the launch of the Active After Schools Program in the Mackay District. Her involvement with Queensland Rugby Union commenced in Townsville in 2005. In 2006 she moved into her previous role as State Administration Manager with QRU, working with clubs and regions to develop better practice to ensure the sustainability of the structures that support Rugby Union. Tamara developed and delivered the QRU club development program "Running Rugby" in 2009 to all Queensland regions, delivered $1.3million in funding to rugby clubs across Queensland, planned all the team logistics for Queensland Schools, Women and Country Heelers and set up the inaugural 2009 Queensland City v Country day. In 2007 she completed her MBA majoring in Sports Management. Tamara has been an active surf lifesaver and competitor for the past 6 years.
Tamara is looking forward to continuing to work closely with clubs to improve their development and funding and continue to grow rugby union on the Sunshine Coast.
"I spent a lot of time working with clubs throughout Queensland with funding and development and am now looking forward to working even more closely with the clubs right here in the Sunshine Coast region as well as the challenge of growing the game in the up-and-coming rugby region in Queensland" said an enthusiastic Tamara.
