The Head Coaches for the upcoming Open Country Stingrays, Stingray Colts and Junior Stingrays have been announced, with these coaches now becoming part of the selection process for their assistant coaches and team management.
Simon Lewis will head up our Open team and Rhys Roberts our Colts, with both teams due to compete in the South Queensland Country Championships from Friday 19 May to Sunday 21 May. With only six rounds from the start of the season on 25 March until the championships, early season form will be critical in the eyes of the coaches.
David Mathias bring his experienced back to our Under 16s and he will be looking to repeat the winning efforts of his 2015 state title. Lenny McCulloch takes on the U13 role and also bring his experience from Junior Gold Cup campaigns, which will be valuable in developing our younger players. Nigel Grevett leads the U12 team again in 2017 and will be keen to make the first representative experience for our youngest Stingrays rewarding and fun. The under 14 Head Coach is yet to be confirmed.
Our Junior Stingrays will compete in next few months, but both the coaches and independent selectors will be on hand watching both senior and junior games, with their eyes peeled for our aspiring rugby talent.
The U15 and U17/18 age groups can access their representative pathway through the schoolboys program, with the Sunshine Coast Open Schoolboys announced this week and the U15 Schoolboys to trial on Tuesday 23 May at Noosa. Our U17s will also have the Country Tour in July to set their sights on.
