Coming up this weekend in the Wartung Premiereship are some match ups that the local Clubs will be very excited for. There’s quite a gap between the top three sides of Caboolture, Caloundra and Noosa, and the rest of the pack with Maroochydore 10 a clear 10 points behind. Gaining those wins over close rivals will be integral to securing a top four spot and a home semi final.
Caboolture Snakes Vs Fraser Coast Mariners at
Its 1st V 7th in the Warting Premiereship as front runners Caboolture face off against the Mariners. The men from Fraser Coast have a long trip south and have only managed the one victory this year against Noosa. Caboolture are on a 6 game winning streak led by the brilliant talent of Jay Forrester from Fullback. The rampant Snakes will be tough to beat at home, but the Mariners have shown the ability to punish teams who don’t turn up focussed. For those in Caboolture, make sure you get down to see your local Snakes club side. They are one of the most impressive sides Caboolture may have ever turned out and are a strong contednder for the premiereship this year. Your support may go a long way, and watching their run home to the finals may just proved to be something special.
Caloundra Lighthouses Vs Nambour Toads at Lighthouse Park, Caloundra
Coming off the Bye, Caloundra will be dissapointed they have lost their 2nd place standing to Caboolture over the weekend. They are likely to come out firing from the blocks in a bid to retain the number one spot they have held for the majority of the season. The Toads are coming off a tight loss to the University last week, and whilst they lost to Caloundra in their last encounter, will be looking to get some runs, and some big scalps in orde tomake the top four. They’re sitting some way behind Maroochydore and Uni but there is still some time to go in the season yet. Make sure you get down to the great facilities at Lighthouse Park to see some great running Rugby.
University Barbarians Vs Noosa Dolphins at University Oval, Sippy Downs
Once again it’s the match up of last years Grand Finalists University and Noosa. Noosa managed a dominant win over the Students for some redemption over last years decider. Uni so far have been unable to demonstrate the finesse that saw them drop only one game last year but managed strong performance in their victory over Nambour at Stockland Stadium last week. The Dolphins competed well but were overwhelmed by an impressive Caboolture outfit and still remain at 3rd on the ladder. This is a match that contains a lot of feeling following the intensity of the contests these two clubs have produced in the recent years of Grand Finals. Will Uni be able to find that magic formula that made them the dominant side for many of these last few years? Or will Noosa keep the foot on the throat of the remaining champions. Head down to University to mingle the great crowd, grab a beer, and introduce yourself to a cute foreign student or two!
